Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
How does the membership work?
All of You is £12 a month. Membership starts when you pay — there is no free trial for new accounts. The practice features (sittings, journal, check-ins, parts, and reflections) are for members. Your writing always stays yours: the export button remains available whether you are a member or not. See /pricing for full details.
What does the pricing page show?
/pricing is the membership page, and you can open it signed in or signed out. It shows the price (£12 a month), a reminder that membership starts when you pay and that you can export what you wrote whether or not you subscribe, and a short list of what membership covers: sittings with your parts, the journal and the map of your parts, and each part in their own voice.
The page has one button, become a member · £12/month. What it does depends on whether you are signed in:
- Signed out — it takes you to /register, where you enter your name and email, tick the box to confirm you are 18 or over and accept the terms and privacy policy, and are sent a payment link. If that email address already has an account, the message tells you to sign in instead (see How do I create an account? below).
- Signed in — it shows taking you there… and, when checkout is ready, sends you to Stripe Checkout to start your membership. If checkout cannot be started (for example, you already have an active membership), a short message appears under the button instead and the button becomes available again.
Under the button, already here? with a wander back in link goes to the Login page; it shows for everyone, signed in or not. To see your membership status, use Settings → Membership. If you are a paying member, manage billing there opens the Stripe portal to update your card, see receipts, or cancel — see the Settings guide and How do I manage or cancel my membership? below.
Do I get a trial when I sign up?
No. New memberships start at checkout. People who were already using All of You before paid memberships launched may still see a trial or grandfathered status in Settings → Membership.
What happens if my membership ends?
The practice features (sittings, journal, check-ins, parts, and reflections) are paused. Settings and your export download stay open. To continue, tap subscribe in Settings → Membership (or go to /pricing); you will be taken to the checkout, and once payment is confirmed the features re-open straight away.
Are existing members affected by the new pricing?
People who were using All of You before memberships were introduced are grandfathered — their accounts stay open at no charge. If you are one of them, Settings → Membership will say "you are on the early list — no charge".
How do I manage or cancel my membership?
Go to Settings → Membership and tap manage billing. This opens the Stripe customer portal, where you can update your payment method, see receipts, or cancel. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you keep access until that date.
I saw "membership temporarily unavailable" or "a moment to reconnect" — what is that?
That is a transient state, not a lapsed membership. If the app briefly can't check your billing status — usually a momentary connectivity hiccup — Settings → Membership shows membership temporarily unavailable with a try again button, and opening a core screen (Dashboard, Journal, Check-in, a new part, or a new sitting) may show a full-page a moment to reconnect screen with the same try again. Nothing is wrong with your membership and none of your writing is affected. Tap try again and it usually clears on the next check; the reconnect screen also keeps quick links to your History, a data download, settings, and support.
Is AllOfYou a replacement for therapy?
No. AllOfYou is a self-development tool designed to support personal growth and self-exploration — it is not a clinical service and it does not provide therapy or mental health treatment. The app draws on IFS and Jungian frameworks as lenses for self-understanding, but the AI facilitator is not a therapist and cannot replace one. If you are experiencing significant emotional distress, mental health difficulties, or trauma, please seek support from a qualified professional.
How old do I need to be to use AllOfYou?
AllOfYou is for adults only — you must be 18 or over to create an account, and you confirm this when you register. You may also see an Account Access Confirmation screen after signing in, which asks you to re-confirm your age and accept the current terms of use. The app is not designed for children or teenagers.
What is IFS?
IFS stands for Internal Family Systems — a model of the mind developed by Dr Richard Schwartz. It proposes that we all have multiple inner "parts", each with its own perspectives, feelings, and roles, as well as a core Self that is capable of compassion and calm. IFS is used both as a therapeutic approach and as a framework for personal growth. AllOfYou applies IFS concepts in an accessible way, so you do not need a clinical background to use it.
Can I use AllOfYou without prior IFS knowledge?
Yes, absolutely. The app is designed for people at all levels of familiarity with IFS. Concepts are introduced gradually as you use the app, and the Key Concepts guide in the Help section gives a plain-language overview of the main ideas. If you want to go deeper, there are many good books and resources on IFS available outside the app.
How do I create an account?
From the landing page, choose begin your reflection (or go to /pricing or /register). Enter your name and email and accept the terms, then tap email me a payment link. The screen says "check your email" — the same reply appears whether or not that address already has an account.
Open the email that arrives. For a new address, it contains a confirmation link; clicking it takes you straight to Stripe Checkout, where you pay £12 for the first month. Once payment goes through, you are returned to All of You and asked to choose your password straight away. If you close that page before setting it, go to /account/password — or use the choose your password link on the Login page — enter your email address, and a link will be sent from All of You. It expires in 30 minutes.
If the address already has an account, the email tells you to sign in instead — no new charge is started.
How do I sign in?
Go to the Login page and enter the email and password you set after paying, then choose sign in. You'll be taken to your dashboard. If you don't have an account yet, use become a member on the login screen. Sessions are kept signed in on your device, so you usually won't need to log in every visit.
I've forgotten my password — how do I get back in?
There is currently no self-service password reset in the app, so it's important to store your password somewhere safe (a password manager is ideal). If you can't sign in and you're sure the email and password are correct, double-check for typos and that you're using the same email you registered with.
Are my sessions private?
Yes. All your data — sessions, journal entries, check-ins, and parts — is private to your account, and no person other than you reads it. To power the app, your content is processed by the AI providers behind the facilitator (Anthropic, and OpenAI as a fallback; ElevenLabs for spoken replies) — the privacy policy names every processor and what each one receives. Your personal content is not used to train AI models and is never sold or shared for advertising.
What is the difference between a session and a check-in?
A session is a longer, structured dialogue between your Self and your parts, facilitated by the AI. Sessions typically last 10–30 minutes and are where the deeper exploratory work happens. A check-in, by contrast, is a 90-second arrival moment — you choose one word that describes your current inner weather (tender, anxious, tired, steady, or hopeful), and the app quietly logs which of your parts is nearby. Check-ins are designed to be done frequently (even daily) to build a picture of your inner state over time. Think of sessions as the deep work and check-ins as the regular pulse-taking.
Can I delete my data?
Yes. You can let individual parts rest — archiving them — from within the app, and you can delete your entire account and everything in it yourself: go to Settings → what stays private → delete everything and type the confirmation phrase. Deletion is immediate, permanent, and cannot be undone. Sessions, journal entries, and check-ins cannot currently be deleted individually — to remove specific items without deleting your account, contact hello@allofyou.co.uk. Completed sessions are also erased automatically 90 days after they finish.
How do I use voice input?
During a session, tap the microphone button in the input area to switch to voice input. In most modern browsers, tapping the mic records a short clip; tap it again to stop, and the clip is sent to OpenAI's Whisper service to be transcribed (see the privacy policy for details). The button briefly shows a transcribing… state, then the finished text appears in the field for you to review and edit before sending. Where your browser can't record in this way, we fall back to live transcription that appears as you speak. Voice input requires microphone permission to be granted in your browser or device settings.
What browsers and devices does AllOfYou support?
AllOfYou is a web app that works in all modern browsers, including Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge. It is fully responsive and works on desktop, tablet, and mobile. On mobile, the app uses a bottom tab bar for navigation. For the best experience, use an up-to-date version of your browser. Some features — such as voice input and text-to-speech — require browser permissions and may not be available in all environments.
What do I do if I feel overwhelmed during a session?
If you find yourself feeling overwhelmed, you can end the session at any time by tapping end this sitting. The breathing pacer and ambient sound player in the session toolbar can also help you regulate if you need to settle before continuing. AllOfYou is designed to support gradual, gentle exploration — you are always in control of the pace. If you regularly feel overwhelmed during inner work, this may be a sign that working with a trained IFS therapist would be beneficial alongside using the app.
How does All of You keep sessions safe?
The app uses a two-layer safety model. The first layer is the AI facilitator itself, which is briefed to slow down and stop when something needs care. The second layer is deterministic: sittings are bounded in length (they wind down naturally and close rather than running indefinitely), and every message is screened for safety signals before the facilitator replies. If a signal is detected, crisis resources appear in the session.
The full model is explained publicly at /safety. The design pattern behind bounded sittings is published at /pattern, and the pre-registered question behind the app's evidence base is at /evidence. All three pages are self-documenting and open to read.
What if I am in crisis right now?
Please stop and reach out to someone who can help. The crisis lines page lists free helplines by country — all are available around the clock. In an immediate emergency, call your local emergency services (999 in the UK, 911 in North America, 000 in Australia).
