Onboarding: Your First Setup
Onboarding: Your First Setup
When you log in for the first time without any parts created, AllOfYou shows an onboarding banner on the Dashboard inviting you to begin setup. The onboarding flow is a guided, step-by-step introduction that helps you identify your first inner parts and understand how to use the app.
Before onboarding begins, you may see an Account Access Confirmation screen asking you to confirm you are 18 or over and to accept the terms of use. Completing that confirmation takes you straight to onboarding.
What to Expect
The onboarding walks you through four stages:
- Welcome — a gentle introduction to the space and what AllOfYou is for
- A short reflection (optional) — fourteen quick statements about the last two weeks (see Reflection), or tap skip. If you take it, the kinds of parts that have been loudest lately are pre-selected on the next step.
- Choose your first parts — a small set of common parts (the one who wants, the protector, the critic, the steady one, the one who escapes, the quiet watcher, and the small child) is offered. Up to three are pre-selected — the ones your reflection found loudest, or the one who wants, the protector and the steady one if you skipped it. Tap to add or remove any, or name a part of your own if none fit.
- Set how you're arriving — pick a word on the mood compass that describes how you feel right now. This sets a baseline for your Insights. Once your parts and mood are saved, you are taken directly to the Dashboard to begin exploring.
Tips
- You do not need to get it perfect. Parts can always be renamed, described further, or archived later.
- Onboarding runs only once — after you complete or skip it, the flow cannot be replayed from the app. If you skipped it and want an equally gentle first step, the Dashboard's empty state offers a meet a part button (which opens the Parts page) so you can name your first part there instead.
- After onboarding, the best next step is a Quick Check-In to log which of your new parts feel active right now.
- When you open your first AI session or save your first journal entry, an acknowledgement screen appears (your choice about AI). It explains that the AI companion is not a therapist and that you are in control of pace. It reappears if you withdraw AI consent in Settings and then use an AI feature.
